31st. December, 1984:
I was living and working in deepest Surrey at this time but John, a good mate from university, was working in Glasgow so it seemed sensible to travel up and see in the new year with him and, before celebrations started, a swift trip up and down Ben Lomond was an obvious choice. So, like tens of thousands before us, we headed up from the road end at Rowardennan by the tourist track. I can remember - thirty five years later - that we weren't a terribly well equipped group of boys and girls but that, although it was breezy and fresh on top, we were up and down quickly enough to enjoy the view without getting too cold.

As such, this entry is really more for the sake of completing the record than anything else - although it prefaced a memorable night out in Glasgow!
