Another day, another Corbett and more wet weather ;)

Sitting in the car after a long drive watching the rain bounce off the windscreen and I was questioning whether I wanted to leave the warmth of the car!! However I am so glad I did as this was one of my favourite days out this year (I know it’s still early days).

Within 5 minutes of walking and I was greeted by a lovely waterfall cascading down , certainly took my mind off the damp weather.

Next up and about 10 minutes later and I came across , what seemed like still pond – but it had a burn flowing down from it! It’s hard to explain how odd this looks, I can post pictures or you can see the video but nothing really compares to seeing it in person! I know it’s the geology of the ground and that the water is flowing underground, but when you see this , it is very odd!!

Definitely worth a visit for this alone, but the main event of the day involved a bit more hiking to the famous Bone Caves. I had read about these before but what I had failed to grasp was their lofty and impressive position on the side of the Glen. A bit of ascent and I was soon exploring these caves ad too my delight I had the place to myself, the wet weather probably putting people off today Again this walk and this location is well worth the effort, a striking and atmospheric place for sure. I’ll be back…

Anyway, tourist attractions done, and it was now time for the hill. Breabag had been hiding from me under a blanket of cloud but I knew the freezing level wasn’t too far away as the persistent rain turned more and more readily to snow! Super fun and the snow level was soon reached. Winter clothing was essential and navigation practice was also required as I battled my way to the top. Much fun!

What a superb outing and I can easily say tis as worth the drive , despite the wet weather .

As I headed back the clouds started to clear a little so I pulled over nd snapped some of Assynt amazing scenery - some photos :
