Grey Corries

Summary:
Cracking forecast again from midday onwards, so had to settle for a late start for what would be a long day. Baking down in car park below The Lairig, and packed. Shorts weather again. No midges. Water the biggest weight today, though snow still lying so would always be a source available. No axe/crampons. A sweaty slog up to Creag Doillich, bothered by flies, thereafter a fresh wind which only chilled if you stayed still. At times, wet underfoot, until pleateau, then excellent walking. Dappled sunlight and great visibility, views immense. Initially intimidating landscape of boulders, scree and ridges with strong winds, patches of snow and at times dark clouds made you consider how quickly things could change up here. Ridge ahead in places looked tricky, but in reality never a problem, a lot of fun. Visibility made for a good understanding of the route, otherwise could be easy to confuse peaks. Lots of stopping for photos but chilly to hang around too much on summits. Scramble down right hand cleft from Stob Coire Easain tricky, stick to ridge in future. Came back this way, a lot of fun and straightforward. Met only people of the day here, a couple intent on camping in bealach, to be v windy that night. Sun setting by the time we were on Beinn na Scocaich which was as planned, an easy descent down a broad, grassy slope. Headtorches required upon reaching forestry, then path (wet at times) quickly found and soon on forestry tracks. Long speed walk back to car through never-ending forest for later than planned, to make Fort William MacDonald's one minute before closing time. Perfect ending to an awesome day on the hills.
