Beinn Bhuidhe, the return; with pals, bikes and views!

An opportunity to meet up with Mike – he suggested Beinn Bhuidhe and I was more than happy for a repeat, especially as it was a short and easy drive for me! But Mike and Davey still managed to arrive before me, despite having driven twice the distance…
Before long the bikes all had front wheels attached and we were good to go – last time I’d walked this all the way up Glen Fyne so it was nice and relaxing to be taking the bikes this time!
Well, it was relaxing until Davey and I stopped for a photo and Mike crashed into us… Still….a lovely burn…
We dumped the bikes – there are lovely bike racks provided by the estate, an incentive for folks not to try to cycle further
We continued on foot from here, heading steeply uphill on the path from Inverchoran alongside the Allt na Faing
I remember struggling to scramble over an awkward section the last time I was here, but barely noticed any difficulties on this occasion, and before long we had popped out of the forest and into an impressive corrie
We climbed steeply out of the corrie – it was warm and it was good to have the excuse to stop for a few photos as we came out onto a plateau – Ben More visible
We continued – there was a path leading across the flat section to the steep eroded bit up onto the ridge
Steep, but an easy climb and before long we were on the ridge. The views back the way were pretty good
Once on the ridge it was pleasant walking, although longer than I remembered. Although all I remember from this point was being disappointed at the lack of views
Reaching the summit we were able to see down Loch Fyne
Loch Awe
Davey and looking towards Ben Lui
Enjoying Beinn Bhuidhe
Ben Lomond, Ime & the Cobbler and Beinn an Lochain sticking out
Zoomed to Loch Awe
Beinn an Lochain zoomed
A bit of cloud starting to come in on Loch Fyne – not such a fine view after all
Some of us looking more dignified than others
Ben More and Stob Binnein
Ben Lomond
Beinn Ime and The Cobbler
Beinn Damhain with the wee reservoir below
Ben More & Stob Binnein on the left and Meall an Fhudair centre
Loch Awe – Cruachan and friends starting to appear
It was time to head back down the ridge
We descended the same way – I was still thinking of heading off up Meall an Fhudair at this point
Back in the glen
Looking back up the way we had been up (and down!)
Before long we were back at the bikes
We waited aaaaages for Mike to get a photo of some waterfalls before he sped off past us
Davey and I waiting….
Almost back – down Loch Fyne from the bridge
Davey contemplating life
Mike wandering why we’re hanging around
Back at the cars it was time to get bikes on or in cars before the drive home. It was so warm that I took ages, stopping for views down Loch Fyne
Looking up Beinn an Lochain
Loch Restil with Beinn an Lochain towering above
And the classic view down Glen Croe from the Rest and Be Thankful
Cracker of a day – much better than the forecast suggested
