It must have been nearly forty years since I reached the Stone but on that occasion from the wee refuge of Jack Drake and by way of a path beside the Allt Corrie Follais and at that time onto the Sgorans from there.
This time a cycle was used to reach the wee bridge across the Allt Mharcaidh and from there a good wee path led us to the very visible zig-zag path up to the high ground.
I have heard a couple of stories regarding the name of the Stone that has a very fine view in most directions but especially so of that overlooking the entrance to Einich. Handy for a person with the Earl of Argyll label who had just lost a skirmish further into Morayshire, Glen Livet I think, and maybe worried about who was persueing him....good vantage point.
Or maybe a place where in later times a lookout could keep an eye out for 'chasers' after a group of your mates had stolen some cattle again from up in Morayshire. Coming round from Ryvoan area and towards the refuge at 884056 there is still on the O.S. maps 'Rathad nam Meirleach' the robbers track.
