3 and half day pleasant wild camping stroll around the Arran Coastal Way at the end of April;

On the Blackwaterfoot to Kildonnan stretch instead of heading up to and along the road, self-supported wild campers have the (unofficial) option of continuing along the coast - part beach and part fields – more satisfying for a coastal walk probably not that much longer in time. Just watch out on the approach to Sliddery Water to enter the last field and cross diagonally to cross using the bridge shown on the map then cut back to the coast; socks and shoes off to cross the burn after Cleats Shore thereby avoiding an unnecessary road section.

Similarly, after Whiting Bay to avoid an unnecessary climb and virtually circular road walk on reaching the beach after Kings Point if the tides are right continue along the stony foreshore picking up the "official" route a bit later on.

Pick up the tide times just before you go to ensure that you avoid high tide at Bennan and Dippin Heads particularly if the sea is rough; whilst these sections are rough they are scenic and fun if you approach with the right attitude and take your time to enjoy
