8 Munro Day Epic at Loch Mullardoch with Andy Laughland and Kevin McBride.

Really tough day out at Mullardoch with 8 Munros ahead us.

Day started at 0700h with a boat ride all the way to end of the Loch. We then had the first (Mullach na Dheiragain) of our Munro’s to climb, this was relatively easy with a good path and we summited around 0900h, then on to one of the 3 Monster Munros over 1100mm. The second Munro (Sgurr nan Ceathreamhnan)was claimed at 1100h. Then the 3rd (An Socach) at 1230h. The forth and 2nd Monster of the day (Mam Sodail) was claimed at 1430h only halfway there! After a decent and traverse on to the 5th (Beinn Fhionlaigh) which was summited at 1600h. Then onwards to the 6th and the biggest monster (Carn Eighe), arrived energy spent at 1700h. We then had a long walk to the seventh (Tom a Choinich) with a nice scramble along a ridge, we arrived at the summit at 1900h, with the final hill in the distance. We arrived at the last (Toll Creagach) at 2000h (13 hours after starting). Once we had used up our last rations, we descend through horrible boggy ground back to the car arriving at 2200h (15 hours in total), where some well earned cans of beer were waiting.

We got back to the Bunkhouse about 2250 too tired for food. It shower and bed.

The Sunday morning the body was in surprisingly good shape, and we spent sorting our gear out, before was departed for a big breakfast at the Mountain Cafe in Aviemore.

Good effort and an ingenious plan.
