Short Stroll Through Balloch Wood.

My wife and I love taking our son, Blair on rambles so we're back in Dumfries & Galloway for another series of Walk Highlands walks. We'd just arrived at Conifer Lodges so wanted to do a short walk to end the day. Blair has a severe learning disability and is also autistic but loves the great outdoors.

The car park is easy to fine or you could also park on the street at the start point. Heading along the Main Street of Freetown for a couple of hundred meters before turning left and round towards the beautiful church. There's a gravel drive uphill for a shot time then it's a left into the wood. The ground was somewhat soggy as we'd had a lot of rain recently but Balloch Wood is quite an over grown dense wood so the path may not get many opportunities to try out.

The path soon follows a small stream for a bit before turning right and heading back. We stopped of for some photos at the standing stones which are modern and feature carvings of the local area and poems.

Overall, a good walk for the dogs but not much to see on this one sadly.
