Here is a screenshot of our route setting out across Loch Quoich!
Reading the Walkhighlands walk description for Ben Aden, we discovered that it is often possible to walk straight across the corner of Loch Quoich as shown, and we were delighted to discover that this was the case. From the amount of vegetation growing in the 'loch', the water level in the loch has been low for some years, and luckily the Caolie Water was low too.

We'd decided to walk in up Gleann Cosaidh partly to explore it and as an 'easy' option. We spotted a weather window and parked the camper by the hydro hut for an early start. We had a straightforward walk in, although the path is narrow and needs attention, and is poor as it cuts across from the loch to the glen. We mislaid it in the upper glen but didn't try to find it again.
We had considered going up the east ridge, but from our angle of approach, it wasn't very practical. We sloped up the grass underneath the crags, getting onto the ridge much later. Great views from the summit.

Approaching from this side, you don't see the best views until you are nearly at the top, which might be an argument for climbing it from Barrisdale. I wanted to stay on top for a long time - but it wasn't feasible - it was a very long way back.
So it was down the grassy corrie and back out along the path and across the loch. A very long day but satisfying to have done it without getting a boat or backpacking.
