I've really not had a chance to get out to the Hills since the Snow has tarted i've just been experiencing it here in Edinburgh.

so I had the opportunity today to head out I spoke to Kevin to see if he would like to come out here and we would head to the Moorfoot Hills for a HuMP or two. we soon decided upon the Campsie fells as he's always going on about them as he lives in Bearsden and has grown up walking them all his life.
I've never been out in the area and took advantage of having guide for the day.

the day was lovely! sun pounding and a lot of people on the hills.

our plan was to skirt around Dunfoyn and head to the Plateau and right to Earls Seat but Kevin changed his mind and thought it would be easier if we gained on of the hills first so we headed up Dumfoyn

MacKenzie,

we quickly found the path and headed over to Garloch hill to get things going as it was getting a bit late in the day and we'd still not even seen Earl.

we quickly decide it's time to get out of the wind and eat something we quickly cook up some food and get a cup of tea in our bellies before the sun goes behind the Slackdhu. as we get ready to go there is a dramatic change in light and everything goes form white to Blue, as the sun disappears behind some clouds.

With a title like that I think everyone will be reading this!

Great photos - 'specially like the one 'lovely features on the Earls Seat plateau' - looks like you're flying over some mountainous country!

I'm impressed that it took 5.5 hours to walk this on 10th January and that you managed to post it by 1.38am on 10th January. Did you drive a De Lorean at 88mph to get to the start or was it the Starship Enterprise with a slingshot round the sun?

Good pictures and interesting to see someone collecting HuMPs.

Nice report. Earl's Seat is a sub 2000 Marilyn too, so I've tagged your report with it so other Marilyn collectors find it easily. :D

Nice report, and well done on your 100th. I daren't look at the HuMPs list - things are bad enough with the Marilyns! I think I've probably done a good few though :)

Yeah thanks guys,

My Mate introduced me to the HuMPs when I had my daughter it was an easier way of me being able to still find new hills but still take the baby up with me. It's been real fun i've been in Edinburgh for years and just when I thought I had climbed everything in the area there's East and west Cairn Hill, Never would have been there had I not looked at the HuMP list for the area.
and i've discovered more of the Moorfoot hills above Peebles with the HuMP List.
I've used the site http://www.hill-bagging.co.uk/Scotland/HuMPs.php
there's a lot of them my progress is: you have completed 100 (4.6%) of 2167 HuMPs of Scotland. (OUCH)

it's a good site but you have to just stick to one list.
one time I headed to climb 6 of the Mamlorn hills Meall glas and Sgiath chuil, Beinn nan Imirean, Beinn cheathaich, Meall a' Churain, and Sgiath Chuils E top.
after climbing all six I wa able to tick:
4 HuMPs
3 Marilyns (Sgiath chuils E top doesn't count)
4 Murdo's (Sgaith chiuls E tops doesn't count but Beinn cheathaich does)
2 Munro's ( Meall glas and Sgiath chuil)
1 Corbet (Beinn nan Imirean)
1 Corbet top of a munro (Sgaith Chiuls E Top)
2 Munro tops (Beinn cheathaich, Meall a' Churain)
1 sub Murdo (Meall a' churain.)

now this was 6 Hills. but it looks like this walk would have been epic. together it looks like 18 peaks.

A bit OTT???. I've even managed to confuse myself i'm sure i've managed to leave something out in the above list.

So I just stick to the Munro's and the HuMPs and if anything else get's TIcked along the way Bonus.
i read about a guy a year back who managed to organise it so that he compleated the donalds, grahams, corbets, and munros' on the same day. Mental amount of organisation no?

MacKenzie,

That'd be Fraser, who posts here sometimes. Some of his other outings seem to require similar levels of organisation!
