Beinn a'Chlachair

Parked the car at 7:30am in perfect weather conditions, sunny, little wind and cool yet. Walked over the bridge to be buzzed by loads of hired cars and vans all going through the gate and up the path I'd take. Small signs up on the fence posts indicate UK Unit Base 1. There was a guy policing everyone entering, but he waved me through as I was clearly going for a walk. Round the corner, next to a gravel quarry and pit was a big tented pavilion with lots of people milling about, quick look through the open door showed it looked like a lounge area. Another guy with a radio said hello and waved me on. As I walked convoys of 5 or 6 cars and vans past me heading for another tent site near Loch Laggan. At the junction another person was there with a radio and of course they couldn't tell me what was happening, but I was glad to be going in the opposite direction towards Beinn a'Chlachair. Peace and quiet all the way round from here. The breeze was enough to roughen up the water on the lochs on the way up. At the bealach, there was a small cairn, but path was not obvious, picked a route up through the bigger rocks. Met parts of a path at various points till got to the top. Just picked a route towards the northern side of the shoulder of the hill once I'd had a look south. I could tell I was getting close to the corrie as the boulders started to get numerous again. Great views all around now. The summit is covered in boulders and a faint path round the corrie leads into them. Then it is a case of managing the walking through the boulders to the summit cairn. Photos all round then went over to the corrie edge to get the best view down and have my lunch. It was just past 11am. Scrambled back down to the corrie and then down the slope back to the path up. No sign of a path although I looked, lost it at the top of the drop down. So rough trudge back to the path, avoiding wet bits. Glad to get back to the path. Easier to walk now, just the distance and the heat to contend with. Once back to the junction, dodging vans again, kicking up the dust as they go past. Waved to all the security guys as I went back out. Didn't see anyone famous. Relieved to get back to the car to get the boots off and let my feet cool down. Drove home at 2:30pm.
Later learnt I'd just walked past the filming of the new Bond Film.
