Weather looked perfect and it was: sunny, intermittent clouds, light breeze, occasional light rain and very good visibility. Wonderful views all day. Track in was straightforward. It could easily be cycled but I haven't yet brought a bicycle on my hillwalking days. Hence the long walk. I felt I could do one summit. I was tempted to include Beinn a'Bhuird but decided against it while scrambling up the tor.
The path was clear and well maintained. I followed the WH route there and back. The walk through the Fairy Glen was lovely and easier than the higher, rougher route which I took on the return, thinking it might be easier. Another highlight was the walk up beside Glas Allt Mor to the Sneck. Very scenic and quiet with an easy gradient and good path. The Sneck is such a quirky looking bealach with interesting rocks on the skyline. The path to the summit plateau again was clear and not too difficult, zigzagging through steep scree. Then the walk across the plateau to the summit tor was flattish and mostly easy going. I climbed/scrambled up the tor and sat for a while to admire the panorama.
After my lunch break I descended the way I came. A few walkers passed me. Everyone seemed happy and I had several friendly chats. It was a long way back but I was carried along by the fantastic scenery, making plans for more Cairngorm walks. A memorable day.
