A bit under the weather these last three weeks with hayfever/cold/flu/sore throat but managed a few short strolls over that period. This walk was prompted by a forecast indicating a clear spot in the far north east corner of Aberdeenshire with thunder and showers forecast for further west. This, I thought, could yield some interesting light/views.

Showers maybe looking a bit close for comfort but we march on, undaunted, like two Borises.

Easy going all the way but particularly well defined at the start with a farm track to follow. After that there are choices of grassy track to follow with a couple of cattle trodden muddy spots.

Pennan Head seen across a shimmering Aberdour Bay.

Showers receding.

The border between the good and bad weather.

The interesting coastline between Aberdour beach and Pennan.

At Haven of Braco. There's an obvious continuation of the path beyond but we'll leave that for another day.

We can admire these majestic, towering clouds from our bubble of fair weather.

Weather looking rather less fine in the Banff direction.

Afterwards, we had a nose round Pitsligo Castle, having been alerted to its presence by a recent BP report. When we went past the "front" I had a feeling I'd been past once before but hadn't stopped. This time we drove carefully down the narrow lane to the castle's one/two car parking spot (though I dare say a small car squeeze in at the roadside).

Interesting and sprawling ruin but the thing that really caught our collective eyeball was the window in the castle garden onto the sheep filled orchard.

Clearly too warm for some!

There's always one.
