Nice walk to do with young children. Plenty to look at, great views across Edinburgh, challenging enough hills for little legs to practice their walking skills especially with the ascent up to Caerketton. We didn't quite manage to get to Allermuir but still worth while on a nice clear day like the one we had. As with any family walk make sure you pack plenty of sweets to keep the energy levels up en route.

Brilliant :) Always great to see happy wee smillie faces at a summit cairn - well done to them  Great hills for families and wee ones. I took my wife and daughter up there one lovely summers day - passing the zorb ball was a spectacle. And it does get a bit steep up the shoulder, which is great. I'm lucky to live not too far from the Pentlands. Is there a more perfect set of wee hills on the doorstep of a city?
