On Saturday morning an intrepid group of 5 set off in the rain to attempt to 'bag' the summit of Maol Cheann-dearg. Initially thwarted by some of the river tributaries we made use of a hydro bridge to get onto our track beside the raging Fionn-abhainn. We splashed and splashed our way along this making a brief stop inside a bothy for sustinance before a steady ascent to the summit. Pics taken, ptarmigan spotted, it was a rapid retreat to the bothy where the rain finally stopped. On the plus side we did get some views and the waterfalls were stunning!!
