Drove up from Glasgow. Parked in layby on opposite side of road to start of path up to Achnashellach train station.
Went up path, crossed at level crossing then on up into Coire Làir. Left path and went down to ford but water was too deep - there had been a lot of rain recently. Walked further upstream but flow was too fast or, where slower, was very deep. Eventually stopped at a slower moving but fairly deep point, removed boots, socks and trousers then donned sandals. Despite all this, underwear still got wet due to depth of water.
Then followed path up towards the bealach with the neighbouring munro. It was still very windy so decided that a high traverse round the other side of the buttress may not be a good move. Headed straight up through the scree of Coire Mainnrichean.
It was sheltered in the corrie but once up on the ridge the wind was so strong that I couldn't stand upright. Stayed bent low and got up to the summit. Managed a few photos then back down the same way.
Decided to go for a big detour round Loch Coire Làir - was hoping the inflow to the loch would be easier to negotiate than the outflow lower down which proved to be the case. Then back down the path to the car.
