We decided to tackle Cul Beag for two reasons one my knees were sore and the weather forecast was for nil chance of cloud free hills. The drive up was nice with great views across to the summer isles as we passed the beach at Ardmair. We missed the start point because of my poor navigation and ended up at Elphin, a quick turn and we were soon ready to set of from the car park at the side of the road.

- Early in the day was nearly clear as we headed up
The walk starts on an old bit of road then soon turns onto a track it was fairly flat with some paths to start with but after an hour or so when the going got steep there was no real path. We were walking in cloud so I was glad to have the gps. We reached the first top of Meall Dearg covered in interesting sandstone out crops.

The cloud was thick and we had no views all the time we were on the tops. Using the gps. We navigated to the bealach holding Lochan Uaine then headed up to the to of Cul Beag not such an interesting to rock wise. We went back the way we had come only getting out of the cloud much further down. Thankfully not much rain. Back at Ullapool we went out for a meal at the Arch Inn and stayed at the bar while a young accordion player raised the roof and shook the floor.
