This circular route around Castle Loch, Lochmaben was finished a few years ago with the building of a new section of path. We'd previously visited the ruined castle on the south side of the loch, but we'd never done the walk. In July we happened to be in the area, and with the sun shining it was the ideal time to put that right.
Paths are all excellent and navigation is straightforward, so I'll let the photos do the talking! As far as wildlife goes, we spotted grey heron, dozens of mute swans, blue damselflies and lots of butterflies. And tasted some lovely, ripe wild raspberries!
