Part of the club weekend Strathspey Mountain Hostel only 2 showers, small kitchen

Solo walk

I had previously done the other 2 as a club walk back in 2013 11/08/2013. When Ian pulled me out of a peat bog.

So today I ended up going from a track by Cluny Castle which the man (Simon) staying at the hostel suggested.
Excellent track right up to the bothy (took me 1hr 10 mins to get to bothy)
Then it got shitty!
2 river crossings and constant uneven terrain and bog. There is supposed to be a track but its just quad tracks that disappear a lot.
It took me 5 hours to reach the summit it was horrendous! On the plus side it on took me just over 3 hours to get back down.
The bothy is awsome some pics below.

Pity it was such an arduous journey in, a really nice area with fantastic views in some directions. The loch beside Carn Dearg is nicely set with the cliffs to the rear. I didn't have time to visit it closer. I went through Glen Banchor from the east rather than a route from the south.

Although glean ballach also had a lot of bog. I got such nice pictures my memory erases those parts.

I enjoy reading your walk reports, keep them coming. I remember now pulling you out of that bog, I was younger then and would struggle now with my Zimmer by my side. Cheers☺️
