Kintail & Skye Day 3We first saw this route (in reverse to the WH route) in a leaflet in our Kintail cottage, and only later realised it was also on Walkhighlands. Again, west was best in terms of weather forecast, with possible sunshine breaking through as the day went on.
After a look around Trumpan Church at the end of the Waternish peninsula, we drove over the low pass to Gillen and the walk's start point. Annoyingly a persistent drizzle had just started - after waiting in the car for a little while it became clear it wasn't going anyway anytime soon, so time to don the waterproofs
A dull track across moorland to start, though some good views back over the peninsula.
Time to leave the track - the bog starts here! The path to Score Horan was very boggy indeed, and disappearing to nothing in places. There are a few wooden posts but they aren't frequent enough to follow reliably. Fortunately the drizzle had finally stopped.
The promised land awaits...
It might've been a pretty horrible way to get here, but the Score Horan cliffs are a wonderful spot, with a better path following the top of them downhill and west. It was much firmer underfoot here, but all the long vegetation lining the very narrow path was absolutely sodden, soon soaking our trousers. Still, those views...
