nice walk mostly on flat area. could be done in three options:
- as a whole
- option along the river only (lower part)
- option moorland and woodland only (upper part)

i walked only the upper part, i stayed close to the folk museum therefore i started my walk from there. first it went along the stream, then path went thru moorland, further at the tree-line of woodland, to the river calder and to newtomnore.
great views to kingussie hills: creag dhubh and creag mhor, with a bit of luck super views to a'chailleach and glen banchor, then the final part just at creah dhubh (newtomnore).

nice walk for sunday afternoon, even if weather isn't that great.
in winter the paths might be icy.

Not done it, but I've got the t shirt!! Bought it from the wildcat trust shop on newtonmore high street :D

Interested to know why it is called the wildcat trail? First explanation is obvious, I.e. You might see a wild cat or wildcats are in the area, but the other explanation is maybe to do with the areas link with the Clan MacPherson (of which I am one), who's motto was along the lines of 'touch not the cat but the glove' which is something to do with the careful handling of the cat? Last time I stayed in Newtonmore, I took the back road over from the caravan site towards Lagan and passed the Clan shrine which had a wildcat coat of arms on the gate.

Great report! 8)
