With darker nights we have less time on our hands, but after the Corfu trail, Ellen was keen to do a proper hill, so again we looked for something shortish and reasonably nearby. We weren’t disappointed by the mountain trail, really good walk. We parked at the car park where we picked up a really nice wee guide book, which described the route and highlighted what to look for at each way marked stop. Nice views down to loch Maree all the way
- Ceann loch maree
Didn’t take long to get up out of the woods
- The glen below
after that we hit the mountain part of the trail and it’s quite a scramble! Anyone picturing a short easy stroll might be in for a surprise! After about 2 hours reached the summit cairn and took some pics with my viewranger gadget!
- Looking back east
- And south
. But the cloud rolled in and covered Beinn Eighe and we thought it would be sensible to head down. Past the wee lochan s, with me all a ghuibhais looking good - one for a clear day! Back into the woods and before long reached the woodland trail
- Loch maree
and soon at the car. Really lovely walk and short - another one for a clear winter day
