I was on the Skye Trail section from Sligachan to Portree and had some spare time, so I decided to take this short stroll.
It was a welcome interruption of the hard going on the 6 miles of tarmac road in the Braes and I recommend it to all Skye Trail walkers.
The beginning through the woods is not too promising as the ravine and the views are hidden by the trees, but once on the open moorland, there are fine views back to Raasay. The ravine and the waterfall on the top are impressive. Beyond the waterfall, the route down is on a broad track, wet at first, but soon improving. Once back on the road, resume the Skye Trail by turning left instead of right to the start.
