Longer alternative for the standard Scorrybreac circuit, avoiding the steep ascend inland.
It is possible to start from Torvaig campsite (see beelow) if you stay there and have no car or public transport.
From the starting point near Cuillin Hills Hotel follow the walk as far as the path heads inland beside the stone wall. When you see a gap in the wall, leave the path (which goes straight on) and take to the grassy path across the pastures to a gate, then further on through a second gate. Beyond, a track zigzags up the slope on the left, with good views back to Raasay. Before taking to this track, you might want to walk on a bit further to explore the area of The Bile.
At the top of the track, after passing through a gate, you see two modern houses in front of you. Turn right here and at the t-junction just beyond turn left, passing a farm soon, and continuing into the woods to regain the Scorrybreac circuit which you follow back to the starting point.
If starting from Torvaig campsite (which is the full 6km circuit), first walk down the road towards Portree (there is a sidewalk on at least one of the roadsides at any time), then turn left where signed for Cuillin Hill Hotel and Budhmor to reach the official start of the walk. Walk as decribed above until you reach the t-junction. Turn right here, onto the tarmac road and follow this for about a kilometre to the main road. Turn left and walk back to the campsite, just 500 m further down.
