Parked at entrance to Lettermay and biked, taking left fork below wooden chalets towards bungalow on left, then right fork under power lines to gated Lettermay forestry track with good surface and gradient continuing straight on past fork on right (white posted Cowal Way & also loops round the glen back down to Corrow) to turning area at end of track 3km 30 mins..A path continues along an old overgrown tree felling track towards the bottom corner of still standing part of the plantation where a large windfallen tree requires scrambling over with difficulty or crawling under with ease, with rucsac off. The path continues indistinctly and wet in places along an old firebreak until it crosses the outflow stream of Lochan nan Cnaimh by some stones. It proceeds peatily up the right side of the stream through the trees until a stock fence is reached at the top of the forest just below Lochan nan Cnaimh at about 400m.to which the path continues and is a pleasant spot to rest. However, the stream can be crossed just below the fence and Cruach nam Miseag reached after crossing the 560m and 571m knolls with broken crags on their east faces. Very good views.
I took 3h 20m to top but spent time using my pruning saw to remove branches under the windfallen tree to enable crawl access and also a lot of branches within the forest to clear the way and place on boggy peaty parts of the path. 2h 20m back (7 min on bike).
