We were up in Kinlochewe for a few days and got very lucky with the weather. My son and I had climbed Fhionn Bheinn earlier on this trip in great weather and the views were fantastic, but my big hope was to get to Coire Lair and climb Beinn Liath Mhor if the weather held out, which it did !
I had always wanted to see Coire Lair and was not disappointed, wow what a stunning place, it's just such a buzz to see and be in a place you have longed to go to, especially when the weather plays ball. We had a fantastic traverse of the ridge with some of the white stuff to give a touch of winter walking. We summited then had lunch taking in the truly stunning views to Torridon, Skye etc., no wind and gorgeous weather, what a place to be on a day like this. My son, who is 18, was loving it. On the descent to the bealach I took a bearing even though it was clear to make sure we located the cairns that lead to the scramble down. No problem finding it. A bit of care taken on the scramble as it was iced up in places. Got down ok and then walked the length of Coire Lair which is a beautiful walk in itself. Sgorr Ruadh and Fuar Tholl looking immense aswell.
One of those days. Truly memorable. Here's some photos from the day.
