Broad Cairn

Headed upto Balleter with intensions of climbing Broad Cairn, Tolmount and Tom Buidhe so arrived at a busy Loch Muick car park at 8am and off I went. I soon wandered into around 40 deer having visions of being impelled but they soon moved apart from 2 who decided just to watch me walking past, that out the way I headed up the path to Broad Cairn by this time it had started to rain but not to heavy. I soon reached the Broad Cairn summit and it was icy conditions all the way and the low cloud had arrived so moved onto Cairn of Gowal where I sat for a while in the hope that it would clear but it wasn't to be so thought I would head down a bit out of the low cloud and see what it was like. Not clearing I decided just to leave out Tolmount and Tom Buidhe for another day and have a look around on the way back so attempted to jump the Burn of Gowal, I managed to clear the burn but landed wrong stubbing my big toe and some how ripping my middle toe nail off, someone must have heard the screams. So after that disaster it was up to the West Corrie for a look and buy this time it was starting to clear giving me one last good veiw before the final limp back to the car. Finally arrived back to the car 3.30pm to head off home.

I'll bet the boulder field at the top of broad cairn was a delight I hope your toe heels quickly and it's not to painful

I had the same thing happen to my toe nails.

Not pleasant... black.... fell off.... now nail-less.
