We parked at Ambleside Cricket Club, crossing the field next door to the stepping stones, following the road along the river towards Ambleside, before turning up the road towards Louthrigg Fell, turning off after the (2nd gate?) to head across the fells to start the ascent, we stopped for a break at Ivy Crag as the weather turned a bit and the wind picked up so took shelter for a brew, before finishing the climb to the top of Loughrigg Fell, before starting the descent down the rocky path to Loughrigg Terrace overlooking Grasmere, turning towards Rydal Water, following the path back taking in Rydal Caves on the way.
