My first year living on the Isle of Skye :)

I used to log my reports regularly on here but times change, for me it was moving to the Isle of Skye exactly one year ago. Being surrounded by mountains and such beautufil scenery I didn't feel the need to relive my outdoor activities anymore! So I'm just posting some photos of the last year which are all on Skye:)

I live in Broadford which is on the South end of the island. The road to Elgol has become my playground! I trail run, hike, cycle & walk all straight from the door. Accessing the NW Coast is easier as is the Outer Hebrides and places like Arisaig. The Black Cuillin is a 15 minute drive away and I pass it daily for work. I'm also two minutes walk from the sea :)

So this post is just for my own memories and not an actual walk report as such. I'm sure those familiar with Skye will spot some of the walks and areas. I tend to stick to the South of the Island in summer as its quieter whilst in winter I head North. Big thanks to Alan Bellis (mountainstar) for getting me up the Inn Pin in summer - cheers mate :)

Wonderful pics. ....I suppose if you live there you can pick your time. Is there a downside to living the dream? if not, we don't want to know. BTW, your location is still Glasgow next to your avatar....so I think it IS just a dream.

Yeah I gotta work 4 day per week Mon-Thur! But I get to viist places like Plockton, Dornie, Glenelg etc etc. My job can be draining at times but the 4 day week really helps and provides balance....and cash

That is the joy of being retired, but the down-side is you wobble downhill instead of striding....though not for the first 15 years or so.

I can't imagine a better place to live... I'm not jealous at all

We go to Skye regularly (2 hours drive for us, so not too bad!) but we still haven't seen everything, I always thought that IOS has an infinite number of routes and the whole life is not enough to explore the island...

We might retire to the Misty Isle one day. If we can afford it

Cheers
BP

I couldn't agree more with what all the above have said.

It's amazing how such beautiful, stunning pictures invoke such strong, positive, emotive feelings.

Again, thank you for sharing

Great post and photos.

dooterbang - I'm a nurse moving to Skye this summer and I've not found much in the way of housing. Can I ask how you found accommodation on Skye?
