We took this on a very cold day following a weekend of heavy snow. Going was good and easy out route following mountain bike trails most of way.
Deeper snow as we reached within 100 metres of summit which slowed me down a bit, my size three boots seemed to sink a long way.
The clear views from the top are more than worth the walk - for a low cairn the 360 degrees of mountains around are just breathtaking.

Descent was a little harder after about 80metres with underlying bog along the route , most could be avoided by keeping further left of the fence (stage 4) but uneven so slow in wintry conditions. Along speyside way plantation section it gets very deep but beautiful.
Along the way noticed people much slower than us, and although I was the oldest out that day, would need to be fairly fit to tackle in heavy going.
Once down to open Moor this is boggy all way to the gated felled area.
Beyond this (stage 6) although the planks are in place they finish well before the end of extremely boggy area. This extends to the farm track and is well over ankle depth, in parts with no avoidance route. I did get to mid calf at one short section. No harm of course but worth being prepared.

Overall its a lovely walk little harder in very wet or snow but never difficult. Just wear over trousers or strip off in the car park!
