For the second day of our mini-break just before lockdown, we started up the track from Corran again, then took the excellent track round the back of Beinn Clachach into Coire Corsalain. We wanted a much easier day than our previous day on nearby Druim Fada, and what we'd seen of the steep ascent from the south didn't fit that bill. The 'path' shown on the map from the track to the footbridge was not obvious, but it was easy walking on the grass. The footbridge is still there but looks and feels as if it is falling to bits. Then it was a pleasant walk on a track, zigzagging up, past a tall waterfall and right into the Coire.
- Waterfall
Once we left the track, the way was fairly straightforward with the ground steepening right at the end.
- The ground flattens out for a while
There was a biting wind in the valley, and again on the summit, so after a very quick look around we retreated for some lunch. Then I made my way leisurely downhill whilst the Hare checked out the 618 summit for a view out to sea. The sun came out as we returned down the track (the Hare opted for a new track in the valley, from a smart stone building to the main track then tested the depth of a ford rather than going back over the footbridge!) and we walked out past groups of deer then cattle,
Here is our approximate route.
