This was a repeat for us, a year ago on my 55th climbed it on the walk highland route with Ellen and Cal. This time we wanted a well made path as we are emerging from lockdown and didn’t want anything too challenging! Mind you this was first proper walk since March and I ended up with blisters, which was a bit annoying.
Arrived at the loch Dronag car park around 10.30 and off we went. Soon had good views of the Fannichs

The path was a bit wet here and there, wouldn’t fancy it after a lot of rain, but is easy to follow. The path climbs easily up to he small peak of Meallam Mhurchaidh where we began to get good views of my nemesis Beinn Dearg

. We stopped for lunch when our target hill came into sight

An Teallach
On we went and started to see a bit of snow on our hill!

Snow at the top
Last time this had covered the path to the beallach, but we were hopeful this time after warm weather. We turned left, following the burn up the Corrie. We found out on the way down that we should have gone slightly further to find a clearer path. It’s a bit of a slog over the rough grass but isn’t far to the beallach when we crossed the burn and zig zagged up the stalkers path. We knew we would start to get good views toward loch Broom and sure enough

Loch Broom
Up we went and found our path just below the snow line, so no problems. One of us couldn’t resist a wee detour to scout out the snow

Always like some June snow
From here it’s not too far to the summit

Nearly there
and soon we made it, time to enjoy the views

Tired Cal
It was just glorious up there, and hadn’t seen anyone apart from a very fit runner! Anyway, it was soon time to kiss the cairn goodbye

Back down the way we came, much faster and by now a bit drier! Great first proper hill of the year and Cal eventually enjoyed it, Beinn Dearg is a bit like Skyrim wilderness apparently!
