We had initially planned to focus on finishing the munros around Monar before heading to Torridon, but the promise of good weather for Tuesday led us to change our itinerary and head for Liathach.

We left our bikes near the end of the route, then drove the van to the start point just east of Glen Cottages. The midges were out in force at the roadside and kept bothering us for the first few hundred metres of the climb.

Once we attained the ridge we initially headed east to Stuc a' Choire Dhubh Bhig for a look at what we hoped to do the following day - Beinn Eighe. Then we headed back along the ridge for the first summit of the day, although sadly the clouds prevented any real views.

After a bite to eat we headed on towards the pinnacles, we didn't do them all, but occasionally when the weather broke we scrambled up to an airy spot for a quick photo. Neil captured me taking a selfie of myself in one such spot.

After the pinnacles there is a straightforward climb to the second munro along the ridge, where we stopped for the rest of our lunch.

The descent is steep, but the shale is quite fine and if you are confident with your footing it is possible to jog/heel slide quite quickly down the first few hundred metres. As we neared the road the sun came out, so after riding the bikes back to the van we found a spot in the river for a cooling dip
