We set off from Edinburgh at around 8am arriving at our destination at just after 10am. The car park was quite busy and after a quick turnaround started the ascent. The route was good underfoot although the clouds wind and rain half way up made conditions more difficult than we had been expecting. There was also some boggy areas as we reached the top half and visibility was poor. The wind was cold and the changing weather reminded all of us of how conditions can quickly change on the mountains.

We reached the summit in good time and after a quick couple of photos started to descend give the cold wind and poor visibility.

We followed the fence back down but after a title while and no sight off any walkers realised we had descended a different route which led us down a boggy steep sections. We were unsure where we had taken the wrong direction but continued descending and stopped for lunch on a path. We could see Comrie in the distance and after lunch we ended up checking in with a farm where I asked for directions. The sat nav had wrongly told us we’re were over 2 hours walking away from the car park and we’re where delighted to find that we ever only 3 miles away and followed the river back to the car. The descent too, longer thanh our ascent due to our alternative route back and we are glad to see the car. The sun was now out and dried out band changed before returning to Edinburgh.

An enjoyable day out and glad to get back out into the beautiful mountains!
