Day off and I felt like heading south for some Donalds.
Parked at the wee parking area on the left just after crossing the bridge before Carsphairn.
Past the ruined settlement and chimney stacks.

I cut left of this and followed a kinda atv track to a gate. After this I hopped across the river; didnt bother looking for the old bridge. Followed a fenceline up for a bit then cut off for the steep, tussocky grassy ascent up to the ridge past the shepherds cairn to the wall and the summit cairn is behind it.

Good view across to Corserine and Carlins cairn.
Following the wall will take you almost to the trig on Meaul. Had a wee sit down here and a bit to eat.

The way ahead to Coran of Portmark going over the top of Bow ,' loch Doon in view

Spent 10 minutes talking to a lad on the summit. He was going round the opposite way - as well as adding in Corserine

Zoom in you'll see him

And time to head down. Picked up a half decent atv track which led all the way down to a gate and the settlement again

An old Mineshaft I take it?

As usual with a lot of Grahsms and donalds, wet pathless steep ascent but once up top the going is better. Some ups and downs nice view's and quick going. A nice place to visit away from the crowds, and a glimpse of what a large settlement/ community was like
Cheers
