My first Munro

I set off early to get a good start and avoid the traffic on the one lane roads leading up to Ben hope, which I watched for many miles growing bigger as I drew closer.
The carpark is right by the start of the climb and has ample space.

My boots went on and off I began....
The path is really easy to follow you can see where many people have been before and you are Walking next to the waterfall for most of it.
Terrain wise I found it hard climbing over some of the bigger rocks ... the disadvantage of short legs 😂
The ground was also muddy when I went, after much recent rain fall so was slippery in parts.
The climb is very steep and I didn't find it to get much easier until right at the top. But I just took my time and went at a pace I was comfortable with which also included many pit stops, to refuel with coffee. Looking behind at the view definitely keeps you going.

I hit my wall 3/4 of the way up and thought I wouldnt make the rest of the way up, but pushed on and eventually got up there, seeing that trig point is the best feeling in the world and makes the leg ache soon disappear.
The views were out if this world just stunning !

I actually found the decent harder than the climb up. I think mainly due to the terrain, lots of rocks to climb down, narrow paths, wet and muddy but I made it, with only sore knees.... although my legs are killing me while writing this the next morning😂

All in all probably the hardest walk I've ever done but definitely the most rewarding ...can't wait to bag my next Munro.

Congratulations on #1. Certainly not a bad hill to start on. I remember a very windy day on that one for me. You do realise it can be addictive, this hill walking bug
