A walk up to Meall Buidhe with my daughter almost turned into a disaster.
Torrential rain at the summit was followed by low cloud. I had lost my compass and was now getting us back by gut instinct alone. The feeling of relief when I saw the Loch below and knew I had taken us back the correct way was one I won’t forget.
Warning
Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.
