Headed up from the south to bag these two. I didn’t arrive until late and the lay-by was completely full with vehicles on both sides. I ended up having to drive south for a few hundred yards and grabbed a spot next to a gate to a field.
Headed off after letting the dog have a splash in the burn after the bridge. Walked along the track and realised I had been going a lot longer than what the WalkHighlands route suggests. Turns out it is turn up right at the first gate, not the second. I ended up down at a small dam and then cut over to the left to begin ascending Beinn a’Chroin. Hard going on the way up had lots of quick chats with folk coming down off the hills having gone in an anti-clockwise route around the two hills.
Got to the top of the left hand side fairly sharpish

and then down and up over to the main summit.

Weather was beginning to close in when I started to descend to get to An Caestil. A particularly rocky section saw me having to lower myself down off a shelf and it was there the dog froze and wouldn’t follow me. She is normally very nimble footed but wouldn’t come off this shelf. Had to grab her by the legs and get a hold of her properly to lower her down. Not a good situation to be in and makes me even more keen to properly research each mountain’s suitability for her before going. After that I met a group and had a quick chat as they were asking about the route. Left them and plodded on. Came across a thermos flask and picked it up and put it away in my rucksack with the intention of posting it on here in the lost and found section. A couple of minutes later a fella from the group I had not long been chatting to had come running back asking if I had seen a flask! Duly returned to the owner. Not far from there to the summit.
