Staying at the Torridon Inn for the first time, Friday this week always looked good and have done all the big hills to the North so this was going to be a good family walk before a slap up dinner.

The path is well marked, about 0.5km back towards Annat from the Inn.

Summary = the path is really well made and hardly a boggy step to be negotiated until after you reach the Lochan. This makes for fast walking even if the route is c5km longer each way than Coulags.
There are people who have written up short cuts but I'd say you'd have to have a high level of confidence in your balance, scrambling and likely some clambering/climbing. The boy and I have done > 200 munros including the front of the Forcan Ridge and Aonach Eagach etc so we're no slouches or groomed path only types. Having the full family out for the day sealed the deal, walk round the back and head up the same way as from Coulags. Saved a decent drive round to Coulags as well. I think there is one other shoulder/spur that would be OK but it would land you miles from the path back to Bealach na Lice.

The other nearby hills at just under/over 900m look great by the way, for another day !
