Stuc a’Chroin from Ardvorlich

Forecast on MWIS looked decent so planned on doing Stuc a’Chroin finally.
Left Ardvorlich at 1040

Gorgeous wee humpbacked bridge at the start of the walk

and was on the summit of Ben Vorlich for midday.

I’d done this one before but it was nice to have a view this time to take in.
Not hanging around though set off and down to the beleach between the Ben and the Stuc.

Ahead faced the scramble up the north side.

Could see a couple of other walkers tackling it and thought it looked the quicker route than the bypass path so set off to give it a go.
Caught up with a father and son after a while and collectively we managed to lose the faint path. A few probing scrambles and we were back on it. Couple of dodgy moments but not too much exposure if you keep right and soon was at the top. Headed off to the south to the cairn at the true summit.

Couple of quick photos, headed over to the larger cairn and took in the view then set off down via the by pass path. Very steep! Skirted round the west of Ben Vorlich

Looking back at Stuc a’Chroin from the bypass path

and followed a poor path back round to meet up with the main path back down to Ardvorlich. Having done it I would say you’d probably be as quick reascending Vorlich and following the main path back down. This one is wet and boggy, and you are traversing on an angle all the way so not particularly good for the ankles. Round in 4 hrs 40 but with a four hour drive either way it made for a long day.
