With 2 days off and a half decent weather window about to appear it was time for the Ben Alder group

Finished work and drove to the railway crossing at Dalwhinnie. Floods and downpours all day. I wasng walking in tonight. Sleep in the car and start early.

Railway crossing at the start

Day 1
Away at 10 past 5 after watching a ferrety thing trying go chase a rabbit
On the good track all the way to Ben Alder lodge and its impressive gatehouse. Hang a right here and up to the gate and down to loch Pattack almost. I went to the better path before cutting along to the sign for the bridge

Over the bridge and left to the bothy where I dumped the tent and some other stuff off

That literally was " a weight off my back"
Rain mist wind more wind mist cleared a little no great views - that was the summary of 4 munros on day one

On along and it would be a decent quick walk in decent weather. 2 cairns on the last one then back to the wee cairn at the bealach and down the wet pathless descent to the stream crossing.
On up to the high point of the path and down and then the long walk back towards the bothy

That night Chris cycled in and joined me for tomorrows "wee outing" over Ben Alders 2 Munro's and top.
Up and away early. Only problem I foresaw was the stream crossing as there had been a lot of rain recently. And it did pose a problem. Fairly deep fast flowing so plan B came into effect - follow the staljers path all the way up to the loch and up to the 833m Bealach.

Great walk and great view of ben Alder from this route all the way round.. Fairly steep ip to the ridge from here, but no mist today.

Up the top at last and time to savour and enjoy the views as we followed the top of the corrie round to the summit

Time to head back ho the bealach and up to the munro top before heading upto the 2nd munro of the day, Beinn Bheoil

A look over to Ben Alder from the descent of Beinn Bheoil

Time to get down now and rejoin the path back down to the river and retrieve my gear before the long walk now ,( or not so long)

For those who want to go up or down the lancet edge if your doing the other 4 on the north side

Boots off feet washed with some wipes, dried , fresh socks on - 'bliss- and set off again on the 15km walk vack out
Someone must have been on my side today - as I reached Ben Alder Lodge

a 4x4 pulled out and I was offered a lift back to the dam - today I wasn't saying no. A long drive still lay ahead, and I had accomplished what I'd set out to do the past 2 days.
So cheers go to the head of maintenance from Ben Alder estate
