Great Borne and Starling Dodd from Ennerdale.
The route that I took was pretty much as described by the Nuttalls in their guide and I doubt that I could improve on it, although I did drop straight down to the lakeside track, rather than picking my way through the forest.
It proved to be a good circular walk and I was blessed with very acceptable weather, although it was quite windy on the main ridge, particularly between the two summits. As can be seen from the photographs, the visibility was very good though.

- Looking back towards Great Borne from Starling Dodd
- Starling Dodd summit cairn
- The steep descent from Starling Dodd down to Ennerdale
It was still very quiet though, and I only saw two people on the mountain, although the lakeside path was quite busy with walkers, cyclists, picnickers and canoeists.
