This walk follows the same route for Glen Ample and Beinn Each. Park at layby on Loch Lubnaig at Ardchullarie.
Follow right ofway signs up into Glen Ample and continue past sign for hill path to Beinn Each. There is no path up to Sgiath a'Chaise so we walked up to watershed between lochs Lubnaig and Earn. Here there is a dyke/fence going from the track straight up the hillside to a distinct little peak on the ridge where the trees end on west (left hand) side. We followed the dyke up to the end and then the fence for part of the way through the heather.

The route up and down from track in Glen Ample. The dyke/fence visible, along with the little peak, the rock face to left and over to right, the top, Sgiath a'Chaise.

To avoid a steep climb, we walked across the slope keeping left heading for a distinct rock face which forms the end of Creag a'Mhadaidh. This avoids a big boulder area as well as the craig itself. There is less heather where a small burn comes down the hill and so easier walking. It was wet, but not boggy. Only gets stoney with some boulders higher up and easily avoided. Walk round the rockface and continue up to the peak where the fence continues across the hill, what's left of it.
From here great view down length of Glen Ample on one side and Strathyre on other. You can also see the top north from here.

Looking down from the rock face towards Beinn Each, the dyke is visible to the left of the trees.

Had our lunch stop here enjoying not only the view, but the sun. It was beating down now and in our sheltered spot we felt we were sunbathing. There are lots of places where peat has been washed away on the top. Avoid the deep ones. Get to old fence line running up to the top and follow it. There is a faint path. Good walk to top once peat section passed. At top, now have clear view of Loch Earn and mountains beyond, Lawers etc. To get back we retraced our steps.

From top, looking back south to the little peak and Meall Mor rising behind it. Glen Ample on the left.

Great fun coming down from top in snow. Harder work going down the side of the glen back to the track. Once on it, simple walk to car park.

Rather liked the look of that. I've noticed this hill before but wasn't sure if it would give a nice walk or be a boggy trek up the side of a forestry plantation. Looks like the former if approached in the right direction 8)

Yeah, I did this route a little over a year ago and found it to be a most enjoyable little outing, with nice views to boot. :D

The 'dead' forest
Did this walk today. It's a good walk with excellent views. Not too taxing and although we had a monsoon day on Wednesday not too boggy lower down. I walked along to Meal Mohr and further before descending. It's ok but you need to cross part of the 'dead' forest which it's a bit tricky.
