Thanks Paul!

Wasn't too boggy but I don't think we saw it at it worst.

Yep, walkhighlands was a favourite topic of conversation for a bit :D

Thanks 2dalmations!

It really was near whiteout for a lot of the walk and when we were coming downhill there it was quite spooky,
fun as well as we knew we were quite safe 8)

Nice trip davgil despite the weather :) I like the shots of the woods at the start - these hills are among my favourites so far.

:D Hi David,first of all,have to say what a great report,some really great photo's.
Much kudos to you and your gps unit as i don't think there would have been much people doing Ben Oss in those conditions, pretty much unnavigable using a map and compass.
Your footprints were the standard route of the day.
Anyway, until the next time, take care.(hope to see you on the 26th)
ps hope your mate's knee gets better soon

Thanks rockhopper!

I'll definitely be doing them again to get the scenery as I think they will be quite special.
I imagine the woods can be quite impressive under the right conditions too.

Hi Ross!

Thanks, much appreciated :D
Yeah, the gps was a great tool on Saturday.

There's more chance I won't make the 26th but I'm sure we can get a hill or two in soon.

Was good to meet you all :D

A colourful collection of characters there and some brilliant photies. Shame about the distinct lack of a view over to Lui though. :(

Yes, the missing Ben Lui should have been the highlight of the walk :(

Hi Davgil

Although I've used the Walk Highlands site for many years for maps and information this is the first time I've actually registered and sent a message. Enjoyed reading your report on the walk last Saturday - your description of the day was spot on and the photos were excellent. Must admit if we hadn't met up with you, Jim and Ross at the top of Dubhchraig Annie and I would probably have turned back. A long but enjoyable day out with good company.

Normally a map and compass man (I do possess a Garmin Etrex used only to confirm I'm lost !) I must admit I was impressed with the piece of kit you had with you on Saturday - proved to be of great benefit in the poor conditions. Would appreciate some info on it - model, software, ease of use etc.

Thanks again

Derek

Hi Derek,

Glad you found the report and enjoyed it.

I have the Garmin GPSmap 62s.
So far I can't fault it, extremely accurate very customizable and easy to use.
I don't have any experience with other units so nothing to compare it to.
The supplied maps are fine so far and I see no need to add anything.

It was great to meet you all and hopefully we'll bump into each other again some day.
