A great day on a multi faceted hill that gave us a bit of everything; lush forest to start, heather filled glens and waterfalls, before a couple of scrambles on the rocky top.
A shame that there was clagg on top so we didn’t get the views we wanted from such a scenic viewpoint, but still, a very rewarding hike and the biggest hill so far that Isla my 6 1/2 year old daughter and my wife have done.
Both (and Luna) loved they day and am glad we choose Ben Venue instead of Ben A’an for their first Scottish hill. Up to the Cairngorms next..

Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.
