Jeezoman - it's amazing how your mind and body can torture you. Engrossing stuff. The road is long....

Woah! respect for this one Graeme....you should chalk this one up as a major achievement...OK you didn't get the final outcome you wanted but still a fantastic effort your report and photo's took me on the journey.

Best regards..............B

Great report, I feel like a nap now.

I do confess though that I once was heading for the Hutchison Hut and turned back down Glen Derry having only got half way up the glen - similar snow conditions.

Enjoyable report. Looks like hard work.

The mountains will always be there for another day (preferably in better weather and conditions).
Getting back safe should always take first priority.

You made the right decision. The hills aren't going anywhere and you can always come back. That's my mantra.
Having done that walk myself it's very do-able, especially with the aid of a bike to Dery Lodge.

Super report, really enjoyed you Cairngorm adventure. Some nice pics you got there nearing the end !
I hve only felt like that the once when on the hill, not a nice feeling at all. On your own with a big winter pack is tough going.

As for my bothy trip this week, well i bottled it. Finished night shift on saturday morning rain was pi**ing it down big time, went to bed got up 11am still pi**ing it down. Tried on my pack and decided i could not cope. :)

Cheers

Wow! Fantastic report and photos. I'm sure everyone who read the report can relate to that feeling of physical and mental tiredness. When you're in that state, there's no harm in turning back as the mountains will still be there for another day. You and Lucy getting back down safe is the important thing.

I only hope your evening was worth getting back for ... :D

Enthralling stuff....and what a great right up.. I felt every step of the way and was exhausted myself by the end of the story. Good lad for making the correct decision and for letting the likes of myself know what could be in store in the pursuit of munro's. :D

Unlucky not to have bagged the hundred, Mheadhoin was also my 100th 8)
It hurts like hell when you struggle for ages, decide to turn, then look back and the sky is nearly clear  .
I'm sure you will 'kick its ass' on your next visit.

Top Drawer stuff Graham, you will just have to settle for CMD and The Ben on a frosty morning with blue skies instead. Thank god we did Carn Bhac instead of that initial idea of doing Derry Cairngorm in one day. Phew
