We started our journey from Inveruglas car park (£4 for all day) - arrive early to guarantee yourself a spot! The walk to the start of Ben Vorlich is a gentle ascent but don’t let that fool you! From there it is very steep, but there are plenty of places to stop and catch your breath. I really would stop, even just to look at the view of the dam - not only is it very pretty, but it’s rewarding to see the enormous man-made structure getting smaller and smaller as you zig zag up the the mountain. Once you get near the top the steepness does ease (a little), and you’ll reach a trig point, but the true summit is about 200m beyond this (it’s really not far). Once you make your way back down to Inveruglas, car park the true reward awaits, not only is there the luxury of toilets, but there is a lovely cafe with views over Loch Lomond!
