An iconic hill. Must be one of the best treks in the world this hill. It is tough though. A good 5 mile walk in to the base of the hill and then straight up the middle. There is no let up. I did this on my own on a very windy day. I was hoping that the lower hills would avoid the brunt of the wind forecast but I was wrong. The top of Suilven was ferocious with wind and I tried to get over to the actual cairn summit but the easy scramble up some rocks to the top was very dodgy in the wind and there was an exposed path from the rocks over to the cairn that was just to much to risk. I was about a 20 foot walk from the cairn but could not get over due to the gusting wind. It could have literally blown me off and it was a long way down. Shame - I will do this again one day for sure but will need to summon my strength and hill fitness as that walk back out is a killer.
