Wildlife walk, Ardfern

My wife and I were staying overnight at The Galley of Lorne Hotel on our way to a couple of days in Mull, and as I was up early I went out for a wee wander. Checked WalkHighlands website for local walks and found this one. A nice easy route which takes you past some lovely wee cottages and holiday homes that you would never know were hiding away up here. Plenty of rabbits running around and when at the highest point before descending back into the village I watched a couple of buzzards fly around and hover above the ground looking for breakfast. There are fantastic views over Loch Craignish and the boats in the bay. I even got to see a red squirrel as it tried to get into the bins of The Craignish Village Hall.

Although most of the walk is on country road there is one section through a field and as I was wearing shorts I checked my legs for ticks. There were a few wee tiny buggers but luckily I had a bottle of hand sanitiser with me which I used to clean them off with. I also had a larger one attached to my sock when I took them off at the end. But a great wee morning walk in a beautiful part of the country. And the hotel was good too with great food and with Covid measures in place.
