a very short walk unimagined

After much grumbling I was eventually persuaded out of the house by my wife who wanted to go and fly a kite at the nearby windfarm. Well there are worse things to do I thought and we'll be back home in half an hour no doubt. Didn't expect the half hour to turn into two or for the standing about flying a kite to turn into a walk of sorts to watch the sunset and a rainbow...
Local farmers seem to favour the Weetabix style bale over the Swiss roll.
We thought we were there to fly a kite in the breeze.
But it was difficult not to watch the sky too.
We only walked 0.5km alomg the windfarm road but it was clear that the sun would dip below the cloud soon and that would maybe produce a nice sunset so I strung out the kite flying as long as I could.
There was a definite change in the air as we made our way back to the car with the cloud dipping and breaking.
Interesting changes.
Got back to the car just in time to dodge a shower. Then a rainbow appeared that turned out to be probably the most impressive I've seen, maybe not for its brilliance but for its persistence, apparent size and proximity and for appearing unexpectedly at that time of day amid sunset amid racing clouds.
It wasn't a double, it was a triple!
Off to the Co-op in high spirits.
